This is tough.  Mel Brooks and Kevin Smith have both made great movies, but they've also made pretty terrible movies.  (Corman too, although his losers are worse).

Personally I'd take Corman's worst anyday over Smith's...and I find myself much more prone to rewatching Corman's films too ---yes even The Terror and Creature From the Haunted Sea....I just love most of Brooks' stuff, even his lesser stuff.

I love Brooks, Corman and Smith.  I voted against Corman a few times but he's not so bad.  Of the Smith films I've seen (all but Cop Out), the only one I felt was really 'terrible' was Jersey Girl.  But Chasing Amy and Clerks are great flicks, and the others enjoyable but not really 'great' or 'terrible'.  Just decent for a quick laugh.
