You Know What Really Grinds My Gears?

I don't usually post on this thread because-well-life is full of s**t and so am I-but something happened last night to really p**s me off.
Me and Tina-about 10:30 last night-were sitting at the kitchen table-she gets out of work at 10:00-so I make sure I have a nice dinner for her when she gets home-and an old neighbor of ours knocks on the door-asks us over to his apartment-so we say-"wtf-lets go".
He was real drunk-I know that feeling.
But a while later-he asks to talk to me in another room-private like. Ok.
He dont know she's my girlfreind-thinks we just hang out.
He says-"I like Tina-I only got one problem"
"Whats that?" I say.
"She's a-ya know-...."
"No-I dont know-spit it out,man"
"Shes a n****r".

I wanted to punch him right in the face.

""No-she's not-she's my girlfreind".
"OH-I'm so sorry! I was born in Kentucky-I didnt know...!"

And before that he was asking her for a kiss-

2 faced racist redneck a***ole. I wanted to kill him.

"Don't tell her I said that." he says.
I says to Tina-"We need to go before I get arrested for f**king this f**ker up."
Dam right I told her. I love her-I will NEVER decieve or NOT tell her ANYTHING.
This is 2012-why do dickheads insist on thinking like weird cavemen?

That makes me ill. Alan and I are a mixed couple and happy as two people could be. I hoped that racism would eventually go away but some folks just won't let it. I wasn't raised in a house that approved of it at all....my Dad made sure of it. In his eyes your color didn't matter one bit,just whether you were a good person.
I hope you two have a long and happy life together.

     RC- We just had a case down here where a man shot his 14 -year old daughter to death becqause she was going with a black guy.

     Trace and I have talked a great deal about this since, as she knows the people involved, and, as a mixed couple, we have an interest in this. 

     She asked me if this frightened me; after reflecting on it, I told her, no, it makes me angry, and sick to my vitals....after all the years, the marches, fire hoses, this, that, the other, we can still roll like that....damnit.

It's embarrassing to me as a resident of KY that he used that as his justification. Sadly, it's also somewhat believable as this is the most racist place I've ever lived in.

Racists in general grind my gears. Now, if they want to hate people of other ethnicities in the privacy of their own mind, that's their problem. I don't understand the ones who just spout out their hate to any casual stranger who happens to be standing by as if they were talking about the weather.

I had a house painter here spontaneously brag to me that he wouldn't hire "n****rs," as if that was supposed to make me feel confident in his abilities. That puts me in an awkward position. I don't want to let it slide, and I don't want to lecture him and possibly get into an argument or a fight. I just want him to be a professional, do his job, and keep his crap opinions to himself.

I may dislike peoples politics-and not believe in their religion-but I dont HATE them.

But I DONT hate-or judge people by their skin color.
If you do-keep it to yourself-if you invade my space with it-bring it on,man.I WILL take it home to you,a***oles.
Somethings ARE worth fighting for. And I would f**k that guy up if his rascit ass pulls that s**t on me again.

I will give credit to my parents for this, among many other good things: They raised me to be color blind.

I am a sixth generation Texan and a tenth generation Southerner, and my ancestors were slaveowners (my grandad, who was born in 1889, could remember when he was a small boy and the family's former slaves would come over from Louisiana to visit their former owners every year at Thanksgiving!)  But all that being said, I was taught to respect people, regardless of their color. And, when I see an iterracial couple walking through Wal-Mart holding hands, instead of being angered or upset, I think to myself 'Wow, the Civil War really is over!'

I hate people playing the race card which happens to me a lot, unfortunately. If it happens, I don't say anything at all, I just show them the picture of my niece and nephew on my phone and I let them sort it out when they see my niece. They usually go "Ummm...... sorry...." and I go

Hot weather because it makes me sweat if I do any kind of activity. I usually take two showers a day (morning and evening) but had to add a third because my shirt was soaking wet.
