american 80s movie, truck transporting nuclear device in trailer?

another movie i seen as a kid and never been able to track down. the movie basically involved a white American truck which had to transport a nuclear weapon (maybe) from one place to another, being pursued by the bad guys who wanted the nuc. i remember the truck had a gun turret on the roof and some kind of button which made the truck really fast and thats all i can remember.

It kind of sounds like the pilot episode of Highwayman.

Thunder Run.   The killer VW Beetles that attacked it had gun turrets, not the truck.  The button that made the truck go fast was actually the nitrous button on the pickup truck the 18-wheeler carried around.

i just watched a trailer of thunder run on youtube and though its along the same lines i dont think its the same movie. looks like its worth a watch though
