Has anyone played this game before?  I love it!  I just played a game and used some of us in the game!  I was the leader and my passengers were Andrew, Rev. Powell, 3mnkids, and Paquita.

By the time I reached Oregon; Andrew died of a snake bite almost 2 months after the trip began, Paquita died of dysentery almost a month before we arrived, a fire broke out, Rev. Powell has typhoid fever and was bitten by a snake (But he was okay!), and 3mnkids got lost twice on the trip! It was a grand old time!

So back to it, have you played the game and did you like it?

I healed myself!

I don't think I ever played the game myself, but I was aware of it.  Many people seem to remember the game fondly and I believe there was a thread about it a couple of years ago.

Sleepyskull

I've played several versions, but not in many years. It was a pretty fun game though!

I remember revisiting the oldest version and finding it deathly boring compared to more recent versions.

When I first started playing this (in the 80s), I would name the members of my party after friends and family.  It's heartbreaking to see your loved ones die, over and over again, from dysentery.  So I started naming the other members of my party after people I disliked.

Badmovies.org friend Khaz had a still from this game as his avatar if I remember correctly.  :teddyr:

That's what sparked the discussion previous discussion about the game in the thread I remember.

Check your PM's, Trevor, I sent you a question.   :teddyr:

I played another round; but the new team was Susan, Moforising, Silverlady, and AndyC.  Susan sadly died of dysentery, Moforising died of the measles after breaking a leg 3 months earlier, Silverlady broke her arm and died because of it (How does that work!?), we were robbed, and Andy & me were the only ones to make it there; but he broke his arm 9 days before we got to Oregon.  This campgain was not very succesful this time around.  Don't worry!  I'll make sure my next trip to bring you guys to Oregon will go well!

I'm not surprised.  I probably actually pooped myself and died of embarrassment, but just told you it was dysentery.  Oddly enough, I almost pooped myself Thursday night for real.

I loved Oregon Trail! I especially enjoyed hunting for food.  I wish I still had it!  I know I can probably download it for free somewhere, but that would involve a series of pointing and clicking that I'm really just not motivated to do.

I always started in winter... always a tough start.
Made for decent hunting in the game later. I remember being pretty good at keeping everyone alive, but I haven't played since 5th grade.

I always liked taking Jesus and Buddha along with me personally.

Haven't played it in years.

I don't remember a single game where ANYONE made it to Oregon. :buggedout:
