I just took the last of my oxycodone pills.  Hopefully, I won't have to go through detox.  And, hopefully, I can stay off them this time for good.  The last time I was using oxycodone to get through life, I popped them like Dr. House does his vicodin and I had to detox when I quit.  I don't think I was taking enough this time for that to happen.  It's still scary to worry about.  It's also scary to know I won't have that sweet release and peaceful feeling that comes with popping a pill.

Wishing you the best with your efforts, akiratubo.
Ah, the good old days.

You might try finding a hobby that gives you a sweet adrenaline rush to help you stay off of it - this sounds dumb, but you would not BELIEVE the rush I get when I find a perfect arrowhead!  It's an awesome feeling knowing that you are the first human being to touch this deadly little flint point in 5,000 years or more!

It's been suggested already, but the healthy substitute factor cannot be overstated. Without it, most people who quit something are going to stumble more than those that have something to focus on.

When I quit smoking 4 years ago, I definately gained weight. Not the healthiest substitute, but at least it worked. I'm just now getting back to my pre-quitting weight.

Success to you.

Good luck. You can definitely do it.  People do it all the time.

Don't get discouraged even if you relapse.

There are also plenty of recovering addict support forums out there where people may be able to give you practical coping advice.

I know the pain of addiction....unfourtanatly I'm still an alchoholic....but I have cut down to only weekends.
Have you tried NA?  It helps to have a support system.
Best of luck....don't give up!!!
