I think this has been the one year where wouldn't mind seeing all the BP nominations at one point, if I haven't already.  I've seen Toy Story 3 and The Fighter and really liked both.  King Speech, Inception, et al look like great films that I would enjoy.

I agree that it's just the damn Oscars. I give far more weight to the Golden Globes myself, but I do watch the Oscars because I love film.

Focusing on the positive, however, I will say I am of the opinion that 2010 was a far better film year in general than the previous two. I do think that the Oscars and the Globes are a decent barometer of what is put out in a given year, and I think most would agree the offerings of the last two Oscars were depressingly bad. This last year at least had a higher number of good/watchable/compelling films.
I don't always talk about bad movies, but when I do, I prefer badmovies.org

The Golden Globes are voted on by far fewer persons (none Americans) than the Oscars.  So, as illegit as all awards shows seem to be, the Globes are even more manufactured and absurd.
