Hi,
I've been looking for this Sci-fi movie, though I think it was a mini series in the early 90s. It may have been older, but I don't think it is. The plot was about the Earth being invaded  or something by this Alien race, but they were like these spider things. I can't remember exactly what it looked like when they had Humans in their web, but I remember it looking unusual with red lighting. And there was a scene where one of the Spider things came down and killed one of the men in the web by drinking his fluids, and I think there was a woman character who was in the scene watching it happen as if it was some kind of plot revelation, that thats what happened to people who were taken.

The Alien spiders were very big and they were black. They were NOT Tarantula looking at all. Hairless, sleek and with long thin legs, more like a widow or some kind of orb weaver or something.

Any help will be very much appreciated :)

Thanks  :teddyr:

The only thing I can think of is Krull, but the spider's the wrong color, the plot's completely wrong, and it wasn't a mini-series.

It does sound like "Webs" from 2003:

There is also a scene with the giant black widow eating a man as a woman watches in "Ice Spiders" (2007), but the year is much later than your target.

Ice Spiders, one of the more interesting and somewhat tolerable SyFy movies. And that's saying a lot for a SyFy movie.

It's probably not the movie you're looking for, but I'd like to give a h/t and a mention to EARTH VS THE SPIDER, aka DAN AYKROYD'S CONTINUING AND HUMILIATING QUEST FOR RENT MONEY.  Awesome.

Those are very good, but not what she's looking for. The idea of it being political in some way does ring a bell. But this definitely in the 90s that she saw it.

I'm fairly certain your sister is remembering Invasion: Earth, a six part (or three part if you saw it on this side of the Atlantic) mini-series from 1998. There were two alien races in that and one was multi-limbed and somewhat spider-like. Plus, they did abduct people to their dimension and hold them in slimy webs.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Hopefully you are spot on.

I've seen most of this miniseries, but somehow managed to miss the webs bit.  I do remember a scene with the nDs (the evil multi-dimensional aliens) coming through some sort of rend in space to grab people.  Now you have me wanting to track the whole thing down.

There's a scene in STARSHIP TROOPERS where a bug thing punches a hole in a guy's head and drinks his brains while whatshername, Denise Richards is watching and being pinned by other bugs.  They're not exactly "spiders", but they're spider-ish in a way.
