Mofo Rising

My music library is full of bizarre music. I don't really think a lot of it is good. Most of it is one-off stuff by casualties of music.

Here's one lady I do like. Diamanda Galas. A supremely talented singer who is almost completely off her knocker. Well, that's unfair, but she is committed to the avant-garde.

Actually, I don't really care for most of her song-stylings, but every once in a while I'll hear something she does which blows me out of the water, and she's plenty weird.

Take this song, which I think is amazing:

The video's kind of silly, but that song is amazing.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Pilgermann

I don't own any of their records yet but Henry Cow can get pretty weird (and awesome) for some folks.  If you dig jazz and 20th Century Classical music you might find them interesting:

Everyone knows Pink Floyd has some pretty odd music, but when Syd Barrett was with the band it was on a whole different of weird.

I mentioned that a lot of songs I've found are by people who are not really musicians. So it really makes me happy when I find things that are completely wrong-headed.

This next song deals with a subject that not too many people find a middle ground on. I don't want to spoil it if you haven't heard it, just listen.

That song could clear a room in seconds flat.

What I love about that song is that the singer was completely serious. It just isn't right on so many levels.

Kind of a weird musical interest, but also the same reason I get so much enjoyment out of bad movies.

If you think I'm being flippant, I know a girl who has the text of this song as a picture on her wall.

I know what you mean brother.  This I've been listening to, it's WEIRD... and not in any good way:

That's PAUL McCARTNEY for one, munching on raw veg-eh-taebools.

DIAMANDA GALAS... I can't imagine anybody besides myself who'd like that kind of sh!t, but then again I like NICOLE RENAUD:

Mr. Bungle.

I hesitate to mention them, because they were fairly popular during their brief stint of existence.

They were kind of like Frank Zappa in his heyday, marshaling some very talented musicians to make music that was manifestly ugly.

They started out with this carnival burlesque style:

The stuff I really like was their later experimentation:

I still think there album "Disco Volante" is a lot of non-sequitur genius.
