I was an 80's metal musician and I know a lot of them. Believe me when I say, the director didn't set out to make the metal bands and fans look bad, they did that all by themselves. This music died out because it's players, including myself, were arrogant, self indulgent, degenerate morons, who cared a hell of a lot more about how many chicks they were banging or how good they're hair looked, than they did about the most important thing, the damn music! I will never be a rock star because of the bad choices I made when I was 20. I still play music, but I have discovered that there is other music out there. Sadly, I still know 40 and 50 year old guys still trying to make it playing the same crap Poison used to play. These guys still b***h about Kurt Cobain almost 20 years after the man died. "Decline of Western Civilization Part 2: The Metal Years" is an extremely acurate portrayal of what it was really like. Don't waste your time watching "Rock Star" watch this instead.

He's been sober for a couple of years now

But I wish he was still in W.A.S.P.  :bluesad:

As I've seen this movie many times, this clip always opens my eyes, as it points out something I have long thought about-the need for these guys and girls to get help when they need it.

I have gotten some flak for what I'm about to say from the "it's my life" and 'don't knock it 'till you tried it" types, but here's my take:

I have often thought that there should be a "moral clause" in the contract of the bands, expressly stating that they get mandatory drug-alcohol counselling\rehab if they admit to a problem (or if the evidence is overwhelming as it was in Holmes' case.)

The record execs make money hand over foot off these guys and their sacrifices, and should look out for them more, and stand behind them with readily available help.

Much like childhood movie stars...if someone had looked out for and helped tham properly prepare for the stresses of stardom, maybe some of them would still be around now, and not yesterday or today's headlines.
Tam-Riel na nou Sancremath.
Dawn's Beauty is our shining home.

An varlais, nou bala, an kynd, nou latta.
The stars are our power, the sky is our light.

Malatu na nou karan.
Truth is our armor.

Malatu na bala
Truth is power.

Heca, Pellani! Agabaiyane Ehlnadaya!
Be gone, outsiders! I do not fear your mortal gods!

Auri-El na nou ata, ye A, Umaril, an Aran!
Aure-El is our father, and I, Umaril, the king!

So this is the infamous interview.

Based on what I've heard through Blackie Lawless in interviews and now from what I've seen in this documentary, I can't help but feel bad for Chris Holmes.

Glad to hear that he's sober now.
