All of the titles mentioned are highly recommended. Another one I'd like to throw out is my personal fav - Darktown Strutters. It's a crazy, manic, hilarious flick that seems to be what you'd get if you mixed blaxploitation with a bit of Looney Tunes. Very weird, very funny, and a few musical numbers to boot...
Check out my movie reviews and articles at: www.cinedump.com

Or, don\\\'t check them out - see if I care. You\\\'re not my real mom anyway. Unless, you are. In which case, whatever, I\\\'ll do what I want. It\\\'s my hot body. Y\\\'all don\\\'t know me.

I guess American Gangster could be viewed as a high budget Blacksploitation movie. Also, most will probably disagree but I remember quite liking the Shaft remake with Samuel L. Jackson, though it's been over a year since I last saw it.

Detroit 9000 (1973) wasn't completely awful. I will say this, the Tarantino banner on the VHS had me wanting to watch it.

I'm Gonna Git You Sucka I liked.

Putney Swope (1969) and The Thing with Two Heads (1972) I haven't seen but have heard interesting this about them.

I've seen "Shaft" and one of the "Slaughter" movies but other than those I've never delved very deeply into Blaxploitation films. I've also seen two of the "Black Cobra" flicks with Fred Williamson (thank you, Dollar Store DVD rack), but I don't think they exactly qualify as "blaxploitation" cuz they were made in the '80s, not the '70s.

I did recently see "The House on Skull Mountain", a blaxploitation/horror flick from 1974, on Fox Movie Channel. That was a goof. Basically it was an African-American version of "House on Haunted Hill." Not very scary at all, but the '70s fashion and street slang was a scream. Plus it starred the late Mike "Lionel Jefferson" Evans. The trailer makes it look way more awesome than it actually is:

I recently found out about THIS movie, and I'm obsessed with finding it, just because of the name of the star... "Warhawk Tanzania." Come ON! How can he NOT be a total bad-ass with a name like THAT? :teddyr:

Supposedly it's a combination blaxploitation/kung-fu/horror flick about a ghetto kung-fu master who battles a Chinese demon living in the New York Subway. Sounds like a hoot and a holler. I can't even find a clip on YouTube though. Anybody heard of/seen it?

I put this in my Netflix queue a few days ago!
