Being a sucker for old game shows, I thought it might be kind of fun to have the Whammy-- the antagonist from the show PRESS YOUR LUCK-- meet the antagonist from the original show SECOND CHANCE-- the Devil, in a sort of "passing of the torch" moment. Both the Devil and the Whammy robbed the contestants of all winnings if the moving light marker (which moved MUCH faster on SECOND CHANCE than PRESS YOUR LUCK) was stopped on them and 4 such occurrences permanently ended the contestant's game.
SECOND CHANCE ran for less than half a year on ABC daytime in 1977 but was pretty cool for its time. Bill Caruthers, who created it, re-tooled it for PRESS YOUR LUCK 6 years later on CBS for 3 years (and much longer life on the USA Network). PRESS YOUR LUCK has since found new life not only in repeats on Game Show Network and Buzzr, but a new series on ABC with Elizabeth Banks as host.
