yeah and every few years I have to listen to the whining about George's tampering with his own art and how he's being a money grubber  with all the merchandising.

The money from the merchandise let's him make what he wants without studio input.

Get over it, and the fans have not spoken on this.  This is a strictly a fanboy issue and the general public probably doesn't notice that any thing has changed.

Sure, he can do whatever he wants. No argument. He's still and a***ole.

Lucas flip-flops more than Clinton.

I'd honestly rather have him direct something new instead of messing up his good movies.

Well, if you really want to stop the madness stop buying crap. It is the only way. If people keeps buying what ever Lucas does, he will continue and there is actually no madness in that.

[...] greedo shooting first or at the same time whatever, but this Darth Vader saying no thing is just awful and completely destroys the emotions behind the scene.[...]
About Greedo it seems it is not Lucas fault. He had to change the scene for avoid a PG-13 rating by the MPAA. Here is the proof.

But what is the story about Darth Vader and the `no things'? Are you talking about ep. 3? (It is the only time we got Darth Vader saying `nooo', right?)

Looked at the picture and do not get it.  Who is the lady?

I saw this horror the other day.  Glad I've still got my VHS copies.

Also, listen to Obi Wan's new howl:

I have not seen the newer version in a while will have to check that out.  If this video is correct, WTH?

OK, I'm in the dark here . . . what does Vader say "No" to?

I do not like this version.  I remember Darth Vader just looking at his son and the dark lord and then eventually picking up the dark lord and throwing him into the reactor.

Wow that actually sucked.

Side note on Vader's Emperor chuck down the shaft.  I remember my brother talking about this after seeing this in the theater. He said the theater was on edge waiting to see what Vader would do.  Then the minute he picked up Palpatine the whole theater cheered and stood up clapping.  There is no way it would happen with the "NO" in there for new audiences.

Come on Later John, don't you see the `Han shot first t-shirt' that Lucas is wearing?

Pilgermann

I don't mind that he continually messes with his films, but the fact that we can't get a nice new release of the original theatrical cuts is annoying.  They still exist on VHS and DVD (non-anamorphic laserdisc transfers), but no effort has been made to give us decent new transfers of them.  Perhaps the original film elements aren't pristine these days, but I'd be happy with a copy of a print that's been cleaned up a little, not necessarily completely restored.  A few scratches and speckles don't bother me one bit.

I'm not a huge fan of Star Wars.  I'm a slightly bigger fan of the prequels, surprisingly, than the originals.

I'm fine if the Ewok's blink.  But the Vader yelling "No" does kinda irritate me.  The scene was fine the way it was.

But hell, he's a billionaire or some such and all the fanboys are still gonna buy the toys and t-shirts so, eh.

I heard the Ewoks can blink now on blu-ray
This is correct.  They do blink now.

I don't mind Lucas adding a bit of extra polish to his movies, or even fixing effects he couldn't originally do the way he wanted. Blinking Ewoks strike me as a bit nitpicky, but it is a small thing that probably does enhance the scenes in a subtle way. It's the changes that mess up the storytelling that bother me. Darth Vader saying "No" makes that scene less dramatic than when he just silently took action. At the very least, it doesn't improve anything, and seems completely unnecessary. Same with Han shooting in self defense, as opposed to shooting first. It changes the character, makes him less of a scumbag at the beginning, and thus diminishes his heroic turn later on. Lucas is fixing things that I think worked better as they were.
