In her early years she was a Glamour Queen. Her first film appearance was waaaay back in 1925 (!),and she won an Oscar for MILDRED PIERCE (1945).

But I will always remember her for her weird, off beat roles in the 60's and early 70's.

I know she was great in WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE and HUSH HUSH SWEET CHARLOTTE...but my personal favorite is STRAIGHT JACKET.
Any favorites from the Queen of Mean?

Big fan here. Joan was a true cinema classic for me.....lovely and vicious and creepy.
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.

Oh I do enjoy Miss Joan Crawford's films, STRAIGHT-JACKET is the (William Castle) classic that first comes to mind for me with regards to her as well. Honestly it's been far too long since I revisited those later efforts of Ms. Crawford and I still have yet to see TROG. I enjoyed some of her earlier work too especially in this classic:

I've seen about half of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?... I really must finish it someday. I do love STRAIGHT-JACKET!!!
