The humble yet tasty grilled cheese sandwich is definitely my Top 5 staple lunch items. I love it when I make one, let it sit for about a minute or two before I eat it, and the cheese finds that sweet spot where it is not too running, but still nice and gooey but starting to solidify again. Damn. I want one right now.

Grilled cheese is right at the top of my comfort food list: real old cheddar, please, and a heap of sweet gherkins at the side.

I made the mistake of introducing my kids to Monte Cristo sandwiches - a sort of croque-monsieur (french toast meets grilled ham-and-cheese) - and life has been more complicated ever since.

Monte Cristo. I haven't had one of those in years. Might have to do that for lunch tomorrow.

We tried Monterey Jack in our grilled cheese yesterday. A bit mild in the flavour department, but had an interesting stretchy, chewy consistency.

One of these days I've got to try a grilled cheese with Muenster....one of my favorite cheeses.
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.

Go for it. Muenster is good for grilled cheese. I tried one with cheddar and edam. That was a good combo.
