For years I've had vague, disturbing memories of scary singing watermelons.

Now I know the source of this particular nightmare.

Back in 1970,my dad yanked us kids out of the foster home and moved us all into an old farm house on a dead end street in the boonies of Michigan.
In the upstairs bedroom me and my brother Mike shared was an old school desk-and in the drawer under the seat was a big stack of Superman comics from the 50's and early 60's.

Now old Superman comics had some of the stupidest, cornyiest storylines EVER.
Yet I read and reread this cheezy stuff alla time.
You would think stuff like that would entertain an 8 year old kid-and it did.
But you gotta remember-I was already starting to read more intelligent stuff-like Castle of Frankenstein magazine and the Warren line of comics.

But dam-they were just plain old fun.
