And you thought Trek isn't cool.

My dad saw Robert Wadlow during one of his shoe store appearances in the late 30's!

Wadlow's special made shoes were extremely expensive so he's travel around the country making personal appearances at shoe stores.

Ironically it was an ill-fitting shoe/leg brace that killed him. He got a blister during one appearance and developed fatal blood poisoning.
If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

Robert Wadlow has always interested me.  Apparently he never actually stopped growing so who knows how tall he would have ended up being.  I've read a few places that the 8 foot 11 height wasn't actually the height he was when he died, just the height he was last measured at before his death, but I'm not sure how correct that information was.

By the time he was eight years old, he was six foot 2.  He wore a size 37AA shoe.

These tall folks are facinating....I can't even imagine how difficult their life could be.
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.

One thing I do remember about Robert Wadlow is that he was so tall, he could not drive a car straight off the lot. What they had to do, before he could drive the car, was to take the front seat totally out of the car, and then he could drive it by using the back seat as the front seat.

Wow....that's tough but at least they were thoughtful enough to find a way for him.
