Anyone else think a particular year sucked, movie-wise?

Iin the UK, The Mist wasn't released until '08, The Last Winter wasn't released theatrically (and most likely was also delayed), I remember '07 as "the year devoid of any good theatrical releases".

That thought is kinda strange. Does anyone else consider any given year terrible, movie-wise?

     1984- lots of dreadful, 3-D sci-fi drive-in fodder.
If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.

Luckily,1984 also had this masterpiece...

Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.

I think there were just too many mediocre films after about 2000.

The past 15 years have been pretty wretched in my opinion...

Seriously? I'll take 1984 over anything released since the mid-90's.

Isn't this list awesome or what?

Every year after 1978.

Yes.  Unfortunately 1970 - 1979 was the last decade that had any real movie mojo.

Perhaps, but Ghostbusters came out in 1984 so that redeems the rest of the year easily.

The Late 90's.

Just teen comedy nonsense. Rom coms...

The Sixth Sense that was pretty good. And The Faculty.
Im really struggling to think what else, if anything, I liked.

The 90s did give us:

12 Monkeys
Dark City
Gattaca
Contact
Cube
L.A. Confidential
Being John Malkovich
The Truman Show
Man on the Moon
Ed Wood
Jurassic Park
Terminator 2
Pi
Starship Troopers
Event Horizon
The Iron Giant
City of Lost Children
Ringu

Doesn't seem so bad a decade to me honestly. When we get to the 2000s era though, I have trouble thinking of stuff that isn't superhero or CGI animation related.

How about:

THE TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE
THE SECRET OF KELLS
BAD LIEUTENANT: POCNO
BATTLE ROYALE
DONNIE DARKO
ENTER THE VOID
ADAPTATION
ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND
KUNG FU HUSTLE
MIRRORMASK
OLDBOY
PAN'S LABYRINTH
PAPRIKA
AMELIE
SHAUN OF THE DEAD
A SERIOUS MAN

I would say 1966- though it was a weird year, because the year had: Manos; Night Train to Mundo Fine; The Wild World of Batwoman, but also The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly; Fahrenheit 451; Django.
yeah no.
