It's not exactly a movie theater but in 2003's "Daredevil" the marquee outside of the arena where Matt (Daredevil) Murdock's prizefighter father has his final bout touts it as a match between "Jack Murdock and John Romita." John Romita was a long time Marvel Comics artist best known for his work on Spider-Man and Daredevil in the 1960s.

I'm sure that there is a cinema marquee in Gremlins showing the films A Boy's Life and Watch The Skies:teddyr:

Those were working titles for E.T. and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, respectively.
If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.

In BACK TO THE FUTURE III, the drive-in marquee has REVENGE OF THE CREATURE and TARANTULA billled, both films having in their casts a (very) young Clint Eastwood; Marty McFly borrowed the actor's name when he traveled into the 19th Century.

In GOODBYE COLUMBUS, RICHARD BENJAMIN and ALI MacGRAW go to see a movie - THE ODD COUPLE is on the marquee - the TV show in which JACK KLUGMAN (who plays her father in the film) would star in a year later.  BENJAMIN's character also has the surname "Klugman".

Surprisingly, or maybe not, how many of these are in-jokes, but here is another one.

In 1988, Ken Russell did a little film called "Lair of the White Worm" (reviewed at this site.) Then in 1991, he did another little film called "Whore." A theater marquee in the second film shows that the film playing at the theater is, of course, "Lair of the White Worm."

While watching Action Jackson this past week, a car chase scene drove past a movie theater whose marquee was pimping Creepozoids.  :teddyr:

From the 1980 film Times Square is a marquee featuring NURSE SHERRI (aka HOSPITAL OF TERROR) and HOUSE OF PSYCHOTIC WOMEN (aka BLUE EYES OF THE BROKEN DOLL).

In Fight Club, the theater next door to the restaurant is playing Seven Years in Tibet, which starred Brad Pitt.

Blink and you'll miss it: in Strange Invaders (1983) there's a marquee showing Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).

in Ghost Chase (1987) you'll see giant movie ads for the documentary Marlene (1984) and 'Round Midnight (1986).
