Bad parts of (otherwise) good movies

Hey folks!
What parts of movies that you were up till then enjoying, suddenly pop up out of nowhere and made you shudder?
For me:
ALIENS (1986)
A pretty good action/horror (mostly action) flick that pushed James Cameron from one-hit wonder Terminator status to elite filmmaker status, who went on to more successes like The Abyss, Titanic, Terminator 2 and Avatar.
But no doubt, there were some bad scenes that made me facepalm.
One in particular was when Ripley "bargains" her way out of the aliens' lair while rescuing Newt by threatening to shoot some eggs with the queen watching, until she "calls" off her royal guards, making them retreat.  Soooo cheesy and hokey!
And Vasquez was awfully annoying.

[But yes, that scene with Ripley is somewhat off tone a little.  Kind of like that deleted scene in, I think Alien3, where the Alien does the crabwalk.  Not terrifying at all.]

Horrible stuff and would have made the list if it was included in the theatrical release.

With the film "Forrest Gump".....I love that movie but whenever it gets to the "running cross country" part I always fast-forward past it. I thought it was pointless and just kinda stupid.

I loved OPEN WATER, except for the bit where they start having a completely ridiculous domestic argument in the middle of the ocean, if only that bit wan't in it I'd be tempted to say classic, the inclusion of that one 3 minute(ish) scene drags it down to a 4 star out of 5 movie.*

*imo... I know a few people who actually hated the entire movie.

My wife likes the movie PRETTY WOMAN (yes, the Julia Roberts one) but absolutely HATES the last line.  We've made a game of watching this one and stopping it before Roberts utters that abomination of dialog.

I'd put in here a vote for any "genre switch," especially a "from something moody to 'action' " as is often seen.  My example is 8MM, a good film on the whole that loses me at the "Cage goes Rambo-esque" ending.  There are many examples of this.

I cannot think of a specific example at the moment, but I also don't like scenes in otherwise good movies where a critical component of the hero being the hero is based SOLELY on luck (the bad guy's gun happens to be empty, a car won't/will start, etc).

From Batman (1989) - that scene where Batman tries and fails to shoot the Joker using the Batplane, until the Joker shoots him down with a giant pistol.  I always thought it was stupid that he was such a lousy shot.

I thought she was French?   Anyway, I sort of agree; the Butch storyline was the weakest part of PF (although it does feature The Gimp, so I guess it's gotta stay ).


A lot of people may disagree but I always thought the "bookend" scenes with the aged Ryan in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN  were really unnecessary.

Eli Roth's "performance" in INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS.  He's almost tolerable until he starts talking, railroads an otherwise perfect movie for me.

     Also in BATMAN- bringing the female into the Cave; she has no place there, other than to make the story more palatable for mainstream audiences.

To me, those "bookend" scenes in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN were what MADE the movie.  To this day, I can't watch the elderly Ryan turn to his wife and say "Tell me I have been a good man" without just choking up.  It is an incredibly powerful moment.

in WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO SOLANGE?, I'm not sure why they decided, half way through this deadly serious, stylish, gory gisallo to suddenly introduce a lumbering oafish 'comedy character' who is in the film for about 2 minutes, and exits by running down a side street with the director speeding up the film so it looks like comedy running. why??!

Asian?  Did we watch the same movie?

Let's see....a scene in Airplane, where a lady became hysterical and everyone trying to shut her up was, IMO, kind of a lame scene to be honest.

     The original TRUE GRIT....Mattie's dialogue, especially as delivered by Kim Darby. And Glen Campbell.

I agree with both of those.  Aside from the fact Tarantino and Roth are buddies, I really saw no point in casting Roth in the film.

If someone made an edit of KEOMA that left everything the same except there was no singing on the soundtrack, I'd grab that up in a heartbeat.
