Hey, don't be sorry. It wasn't your fault that the thread degenerated into ignorant hate-mongering. It's his.

Yeah, that got really derailed by that guy through his words only.

hallows- I was saying I couldn't understand why that guy was getting so upset about it, not indy. It was also a bit of whagt is sometimes referred to as hobby horsing, using a arbitrary topic to launch into your thing you want to talk about. like I sometimes do with foreign policy

It's nothing but a bit of good old-fashioned dehumanization. Paranoid dehumanization. You know, that thing that has been responsible for some of the greatest atrocities in human history?

I understand where it comes from, but why spend your life believing you are surrounded by enemies? Sure, there are a lot of people out there who hold different beliefs than you do, but why take that next step into nuttiness to imagine it is a concerted effort by sub-humans designed to damage whatever belief you hold true to your heart?

The answer to that is that some people are just deluded a***oles.

Embrace the contrary nature of the human condition. You might disagree with others, but once you deny them the humanity they hold, you have become worse than anything you argue against.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

Do I believe there's an anti- Christian agenda? Yes, I do....however, I don't see the sense in trying to get my point across by yelling, and name-calling, particularly when the thread was designated a a place for friendly discussion.

I've little doubt that Indy would've agreed with some of what the fellow had to say, so why attack Indy?
People like that make me tired.

If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.

I've always tried to live by the old adage that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

Apparently some folks don't know what honey is . . .

He wasn't interested in catching flies, he just wanted to swat at them.

the chic-fil-a thread must have gotten nasty, i expected it to get pretty hot. those are very hard issues to discuss because everyone feels so strongly about them. but  the only problem i saw with that thread was nanahoohoo are whatever his name was.  hes just a youtube troll that got in here somehow, seems like the type of person that would  do something crazy in a movie theatre. no hard feelings from me, i realize some of my comments may have been offensive as well, my apologies. anybody want a granola bar?

What's ironic is conservatives won that whole thing. Chick Fil A had huge sales and a lifetime of free advertising.

People often forget, in their moral outrage, that publicity is publicity. Unless someone really cares about the issue in the same way they do, all they do by raising a stink is make people more aware of the brand. We don't have Chick-fil-A in Canada, and I'd never even heard of it before the controversy. Now, I know their logo, their slogans, their popular menu items, vaguely what areas they serve, and a little bit of their company history.

On the subject of Navakubi (or whatever it was), he just made me cringe, the way he expressed everything in terms of fights and enemies and doing what it takes to win. He's a prime example of the mentality that is hurting everyone, and the USA in particular, these days.

I know I'm as guilty as anyone but sometimes discussing religion and politics, which inevitably seemed tied together these days it seems (I don't really feel they should be but that's another issue) is going to lead to people getting angry and upset and emotional outburts not always based on reason. At least, that's what sometimes seems to happen. I dislike hate whether it being hating on someone for race, religious beliefs or sexual preference. None of that is right. Just plain and simple, living with others requires tolerance or else we go backwards instead of forward.
