With all due respect, I doubt it, but if the Republicans keep shooting all their toes off like they did with the government shutdown, we'll no doubt see our first women president with Hilary Clinton. Either that or V.P. Joe Biden becomes President Joe Biden.
Probably a bit controversial here, but I feel the shutdown was deliberately continued thru calculated Democratic refusal to deal w\Boehner, because they knew this would make Republicans take the blame for the shutdown.
Part of one of the deals the Republicans wanted was to have ALL of The Hill sign up for Obama-care and give up their exemptions. It's easy to see why Obama refused that, because he'd have to live by his own rules.
Another provision was income verification for low-income and wlefare peoples. To avoid fraud. BOTH sides agreed on this, but then again, Obama and Reid struck it down. Easy to see why, for the same reason they struck down voter ID's, because they would stop fraud.
Last, the Republicans wanted all medical devices to be tax free. Why? to make them more affordable.
This last deal wasn't unreasonable. But as usual, Obama said 'No' (funny considering he accuses the Repubs of being the party of "no'). Eventually I feel this will come back to haunt him though, given the problems Obama-care is causing at the moment.
No "accountability", no "end to bi-partisanship", but we got a lot of transparency, because we can see right all that's going on.
What a world...

Again, while I respect the fact that my words will not fall on the ears of all in a favorable way, it was my right to say, and I feel I've been respectful enough. Politicians living by the same rules they force upon society isn't really a bad thing. While we know it can't (and won't) ever happen, one can only hope. And on that note, I'll go back to waiting for my letter from Lincoln, as no doubt the rest of the U.S. is waiting for.

I think you'll find that you are not in the minority anymore, Umaril. It is important that we not allow the status quo to bully us or attempt to choose our way of thinking for us. It is always healthy to have opposing and objecting viewpoints in our society. This is one of the foundations that the U.S. was founded upon, and I do not particularly enjoy the bullying tactics that are used by either side in this country, nor do I agree with the bullying tactics that the U.S. government uses in other countries either.

Sorry AHD, didn't see yr post.

I was thinking of a name for a couple of weeks before I got him and nothing sounded right, then on the day I went to collect him I thought "well it's a Sunday today, and he's black cat... Black Sunday...Black Sabbath...Why not call him Ozzy?!". And so I did.  Smile

Ozzy looks a lot like a late friend of mine, named Malcolm; he owned my best friend, Dave.

When my grandma was a little girl in the 1930s, she lived for a time in eastern Ohio, right across the river from West Virginia, and many people there talked about the "ape-bear" that they said they saw in the woods. Apparently a lot of people claimed to have encounters with this creature or creatures, which they said walked on two legs and was taller than a man, hairy, and stank, and would run from you during the day but was bolder at night, and it liked to raid chicken coops and steal from farmhouses. Her father told her not to take Appalachian tall tales too seriously, but when Grandma told me about the ape-bear when I was little, I always wondered if the supposed creature the locals had been describing may not have been the same thing as Bigfoot.
