A period of temporary economic decline during which trade and industrial activity are reduced, generally identified by a fall in GDP in two successive quarters.

Yeah, the white house is trying to say this is not what a recession is.

The two consecutive quarters of negative growth is the definition in the rest of the world, but the US doesn't use that, so she is right from your government's standpoint. That isn't to say you aren't in a recession, but again since it is not a measurement used by your country to define recession, then they aren't redefining what is one. Sorry, but your video doesn't back up your point. She is simply stating a fact.

Were you almost anywhere else in the world, you'd be right. Saying that two-quarters of negative economic growth isn't a recession would be trying to change the facts on the ground, but as with things like the metric system and several other things, the US chose to walk a different path here from the rest of the world.
