i wish we could do more to help you john..
You do have a kind inclination.  My cat is still with us, and a little better today than yesterday, more active, and eating.  He even peed!  It's funny the things that can make one glad.  The earthquake is in my gut because I'm writing this.  I've gotten better hold of myself, and glad I have stalled on making a final decision.  He slept beside me again last night and was still there when I woke up 5 hours later.  I used to tease Gayle that "that cat is going back to the farm" (meaning her property).  I never imagined I could get close to a cat after I lost my girl 10.5 years ago.  I know his importance is symbolic.  I also just love him.  Thanks.

I know how close you can get to a cat. May he surprise you and get better and may you have many happy memories of him to think back on. If you feel the need to cry AHD, just let it happen. Don't worry about losing control once in a while.

Believe you me, I can indulge myself and have, including with tears.  I look askance at tears; it's personal... I gave up caring what anybody thinks of me long ago.  I believe in control.  Too much blubbering on TV and around me.  Tears have been used to manipulate.  Now that I would be afraid anyone would accuse me of.

I don't cry alot either. I didn't cry about my brother or father until long after the fact.
But when I do, I howl like a baby. And it really helps to let all that go.

Whoever said cats have nine lives?   Jumps on me late in the night, lays next to me, leaves.  He's different and the same.  I've been calling him "my big little skinny bones".

Maybe Barri sent encouraging thoughts my way;  for the moment, I am under the shadow of a smile.  I thank her.

My boy is on my desk in front of this monitor, making it difficult to type as his tail and back paw are on the keyboard.

Did I relearn that lesson today!  What I wrote a year and a half ago was still true.
I talked with my younger sister and laughed... that helped a lot.  I am very blessed to have her.
Living hurts, acceptance helps.  I thought of my brother who chose long ago not to live, merely to survive.  He survives still.  If you live in fear of hurt you will never know joy.
We can hope.

So sorry to hear that.  It's so hard to lose a dear companion.
