the latest stuff i'm i trouble for disliking are all the comic book movies, marvel in particular. they bore me to tears.

I was that way for a long time. I never liked the Batman movies, the X-men  movies, or the Spiderman s**t. I don't like the Guardians of the Galaxy , or any DC s**t.  Still don't. But I love anything with Capt. America and the Avengers. I liked Dr. Strange . I just wish they would incorporate the Fantastic Four, the Silver Surfer and Sub Mariner into the Marvel films. Would like to see Black Bolt and the Inhumans too.
I mean-damn-It's not a Marvel Universe without the Four. A new Man-Thing would be nice.

Just imagine if Disney had picked up Fox a decade ago.

Just imagine if Disney had bought Fox at the same time they'd picked up Marvel.

Just give them time, RCMerchant. You just might be surprised by what comes out of Marvel. Not only a Fantastic 4, either a solo film or incorporated with the other Marvel characters, but also another X-Men film with them appearing along side the other Marvel characters.

Fox Sake

Am not a fan of DC Comic, Marvel, or any other superhero comic strip hero brought to life onto our screen these past few years. I tried to find some love for the Batman franchise, but I couldn't even get excited with The Dark Knight - which some have said is the best Batman of all.

Chainsawmidget

Lego Batman is the best Batman of all.

Dark Knight had a wishy washy Batman that had to be held by the hand and told what to do, a semi-omnipotent Joker that barely resembled Joker, and stripped down all the larger than life fantastical elements that make Batman worth watching.

Gabriel Knight

I know this is hardocre necro, but it's a nice thread to keep going, and I did wanted to say something about a movie I saw recently: The Big Lebowski.

It was nearly impossible for me to even trying to form a smile in my face while watching this crap. Awful, simply awful. The "jokes" were so unfunny and predictable that I almost cried (the car smashing scene, to give a quick example).

I see I'm not the only person who didn't like ET: this is IMO the most blasphemous film ever made.

1. ET comes to Earth from the heavens.
2. When he gets here, no-one recognizes him for who he truly is.
3. His earth mother's name is Mary.
4. He has one true disciple - Elliot.
5. He performs miracles of a kind.
6. He is persecuted, dies and is resurrected.
7. Then he vanishes again.

Who is that?

They made similar comparisons with klaatu in the day the earth stood still.

The men in black movies.  Mind control, memory erasing, icd rather die than have peopel causally adjust my mind and control what I believe. I'd shoot smith and Jones and p**s on their corpses.

This is true. I love THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL (not the remake-Yikes!)

But- I can't stand E.T. either. The cute factor is up to 11. UGH.

I never understood the appeal of John Wayne-in any movie.

JOHN WAYNE usually makes a movie better if he's in it.

I don't like HARRY POTTER movies ... did we cover that?

But you don't like the movie, or the idea that its trying to represent? I think the first MBI was awesome. The second was pretty crappy, but the third raised the bar.

I believe that they are, at least, original and inventive movies, which is something quite valuable nowadays.

The idea that these a***oles can come and just take over someone's mind, edit their memories, tell them what to think, etc. I'd rather die than have someone do that to me.

Oh, but that's the fun of the movie... they already did, and you just don't know it.  :tongueout:

Charlie Chaplin. Which is strange, because I love Keaton, Llyod, and Laurel and Hardy silent shorts..but Chaplin..I dunno.
I didn't like MODERN TIMES or the GREAT DICTATOR either. I don't like Chaplin- and I really don't know why.

I like all of his movies, particularly the later ones like CITY LIGHTS or MODERN TIMES or MONSIEUR VERDOUX ...

I didn't like The Great Dictator either. Most of the jokes just went on and on and on, past the point where they were funny.
