Here's my p**s-you-off BAD movie list:

CARNIVAL OF SOULS (1962)  Definitely a top 5 favorite, a masterpiece.  And bad!   :teddyr:
DEATHDREAM (1972)  Definitely a top 10 favorite film, good or bad; I think DEAD OF NIGHT is BAD for multiple reasons.  Highly recommended.
TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974)  Maybe the GREATEST horror film ever made.  Also a masterpiece.
The perfect example of an important great film that is BAD FOR YOU.
LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT (1972)  An important film.  I hate it.   :hatred:
CANNIBAL FEROX (1981) aka MAKE THEM DIE SLOWLY   Stoopid, gross, mean... Hate it.   :hatred:

Now- I gotta disagree with CARNIVAL OF SOULS and the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE as bad movies of any type. Yes- they were low budget. Bad? Not even close.

As far as awful BAD movies- yeah- CANNIBAL FEROX and LAST HOUSE. I would also add CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST and Joe Spinelli's MANIAC.
But that should be a separate thread.

Hmmm... gives me an idea....

Doesn't anybody READ what I write?

I will assert again, some movies are BAD though they are GREAT.  BAD does not necessarily mean low budget or unwatchable.  Three of those films I cited are GREAT but also BAD (in my opinion).  I don't see things as just black or white.  Including "bad".  Bad can be BAD for you, or BAD taste, or BAD production.  If you don't get me, you never will.

I read what you write, Allhallowsday.

Awhile back you said there are movies which are bad for you, & you listed Carnival of Souls amoungst them. You consider these films, not films with low production values, the true bad films. Your list wasn't a list of your favorite cheesy movies; it wasn't a list of movies you liked in spite of their limits; it was a list of movies you consider bad for you.

oh yes! and house with the crooked windows, and goldenhair and about 45 more when netflix had a run on them on dvd about 7 years ago. to ME they're all good, but my friends think i'm bonkers because the effects and such are pretty bad. the kids in my life, and my husband, love them too..kids have a better grasp on the fact that the story IS most important in these, and the effects are pretty funny! i like yokai movies too, pretty much any kind of ethnic fairytales . you should see my books, they are getting tattered from kids reading them, lol! i'm cool with that, anything to get a kid to read is a good thing, even dripping popsicles on the pages is allowed.

I don't know if I'd considered CARNIVAL OF SOULS bad for you (tho' I might've - I "reed" you!) but, I've long disagreed with forum opinions regarding what a "bad movie" is.  For me, it's not just "bad".  Here I go again: yadayadayada.
Mmm... well, I don't think you get me either.  But thanks for reading!

Gene Worm

I'm glad I get to pick five, because I honestly have no idea which to pick for my "all-time" favorite so I guess I'll just mash them all together.

The list is by date, not by favorite, in case anyone was curious.

Fiend Without a Face (1958): This one's a classic and by far, one of my all-time favorites. They are literally hopping brains that use their spinal column to strangle people to death! They also bleed jam, and to top it off, they even have eye-stalks! Honestly, I don't know what could possibly be better.

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964): Oh boy, this one. This is one of those movies that's a totally hilarious and cringe-worthy trainwreck, but the faces of my poor friends and family members I subjected to this awful movie were absolutely priceless.

Gamera vs. Guiron (1969): I had a hard time choosing exactly which one, but I had to choose something from the Gamera franchise! I mean, when the protagonist is literally a giant turtle with rocket jets, it's hard not to include it. I picked this one because it has tin foil space ladies and a giant lizard with a giant knife for a head that can fly and spew shurikens.

Space Amoeba (1970): An amazing film from our friends at Toho, the creators of the Godzilla franchise as well as many others. It is essentially just another "horrible things that happen at a mysterious uncharted island", but I find the costumes to be what makes it a highlight for me, especially the star of the film, Gezora.

Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends the Movie (2009, and boy that's quite a name): Out of the Ultraman-related movies that I've seen, I think this one's my favorite, despite being a more modern piece. It's a movie adaption to Ultra Galaxy: Mega Monster Battle (2007) series, which is pretty much Ultraman's answer to Pokemon (basically, a select few people as well as aliens have "Capsule Monsters" (which surprisingly predates Pokemon, with the concept being reused from Ultraseven (1967)) and basically they have their kaiju duke it out in exciting battles). The movie is fun and has a fairly decent story, and although it's certainly not the best film out there (thus being a B-Movie), it has its charms and I found it entertaining to watch.
"Listen, you've got to get down below. There's something coming through, and it's the nastiest looking thing yet! Some of your buddies went down there a while ago, and I haven't seen them since."

Svengoolie 3

Weeellllllll, if I like a movie I don't think it's bad. But as for movies a lot of people would say are bad...

Lucy. Yeah yeah I know the whole "10% of your brain" bit is BS but I still like this movie. The idea of a human attaining total transcendence and maybe even becoming god is fascinating.

Planet of the vampires. I thought it was good even tho it had a lot of bad movie elements, especially "speed racer" dubbing and some bad effects and goofs. (Barry Sullivan catches a   "ray rifle" clearly backwards.)

The keep. Yeah most people think it was bad I think it was good. Plus dead Nazis killed horribly.

Zone troopers. A loving tribute to the Gernsback era. Ray guns, bug eyed aliens, Hitler getting punched by a Brooklyn boxer, Tim Thomerson. Honestly, there is nothing about this movie not to love!

The invisible ray. Boris Karloff with an afro. Bela Lugosi as a good guy. Horrible science!  Hilarious stereotypes! Hammy acting!

The doctor that circumcised Trump threw away the wrong piece.

Gee, I can't recall....I think it was 100 HORROR MOVIES or some such thing.... I got in 2006. It had Italian Hercules movies, the SNOW QUEEN, some old Monogram films from the 40's- a mixed bag, most which weren't horror at all!
