I want to say Windsor McKay, but I'm not sure he worked on any comic books, just strips & animation.

Gogos-I wouldn't call him a comic book artist-more of a painter....

One of my favorites is Ethan Van Sciver.  His run on Green Lantern with Geoff Jones are some of my favorite superhero comics of recent years.

At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

No offense- all great artists- (except I'm not familiar with the bottom 3), but, technically, they're newspaper comic strip artists.
When it comes to newspaper strip artists, I lean towards Chester Gould's Dick Tracy.

I wouldn't say that... I mean, my #1 artist is Eisner!
And I'm crazy about anything MAD orientated- and Don Martin is the Man!

I've been out of the comic book loop for a long time but just off the top of my head, back in the day I would buy anything that George Perez drew. He's best known for his long association with DC's New Teen Titans in the '80s but he worked for Marvel on Avengers and Fantastic Four (to name just a few) for many years as well.

I loved his style, he could draw pretty much any super hero character (and his ladies always had a certain, shall we say, "va-va-voom" element to them)... he was THE MAN as far as I was concerned.

I just read recently that he has announced his retirement from comics, I'd say it's well deserved.
