I have a deck of tarot cards. Yeah,  weird. Got them a long time ago after getting my tarot read at a convention. Haven't touched them in years.

This fan of unknown origin.

I used to sleep on Mom's couch (I have a bed now). I woke up in the middle of the night because something was poking my side.
I reached into my pocket and felt something long, wooden, and in some kind of case. I assumed it was a pair of chopsticks I got at Whole Foods
since I buy sushi there often. It was dark and I was sleepy so I just tossed the "chopsticks" on the coffee table without looking at it and fell asleep.

When I woke up the next day I finally looked at what I thought was chopsticks only to find a fan in a silk case. I don't recognize it at all. Never seen it before.
I asked Mom if she slipped this into my pocket while I was sleeping and she denied it. To this day, I don't know where this came from.

that's beautiful aj. somebody out there likes you! that looks like the fans used at chinese new year celebrations in chinatown, they're given away for good luck in boston.

sven , i have at least 6 decks of tarot cards from around the world, even though i haven't done a tarot reading in many years. people send me odd things.. on that note, i'd say my scrying bowl is probably the weirdest thing i own right now. it's made out of a hubcap, lol!

I have a Gestapo officer's swastika pen.  A friend's grandfather brought it back from World War II and he gave it to me because I teach history.  It's macabre, but also fascinating - silent witness to a horrible chapter of history!

That's really strange: I don't know if I would even feel OK holding that thing.

I have a giant Godzilla model - over half a metre long - which used to stand on my coffee table until I moved and it now stands near my picture window and scares the heck out of anyone dumb enough to look inside.

It is the Godzilla from the Roland Emmerich version, btw

I have a copy of the LIFE magazine with Manson on the cover. I had an issue framed hanging on the wall, but I took it down. I gave it to a friend of mine. He had all sortsa people offering to buy it...why, I dunno. I use mine for a rolling tray.

I KINDA own tarot cards. It came with a copy of Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. However it was just half of the Major Arcanas in the Persona style.
I think you needed to buy a different game to get all the Major Arcanas. Even then there's no minor ones. I think its in the basement somewhere.

@AJ - that is one of the oddest things I've heard. Maybe someone slipped the fan in your pocket earlier that day? Or maybe you had a momentary episode of multiple personality, and your alter ego Fu Manchu picked it up before AJ took over again.

The only possible idea I have is that I got it at the World Market (Or whatever that place was called). I used to go on trips with an organization called West Metro Learning Connections and that was one place we went to. They definitely sold fans there.

That would still be odd because I left WMLC several years ago. It's theoretically possible I left a fan from there in a pair of pants from back then, but that would still be odd because it was a pair of sweatpants. Cargo pants I'd understand since I don't check all the pockets but sweats I'd definitely notice.

But using Occam's Razor, the most likely solution is that someone put it in my pocket without me noticing. I don't know who though.

I just bought 5 UFO magazines from the 1960's from ebay. What's cool is that the seller included actual front page newspaper clippings,- not photo copies- old yellow newspaper- of some ufo s**t dated 1965 from the Oklahoma Journal.  Amazing. All for $12.00! There were no other bidders- it was under the radar!

I still own the one on the left; sold the other one years ago.  They are Clint Toys Halloween buckets; collectors refer to it as the "Glenn Strange" bucket or Frankenbucket.

I used to have a severed head in a jar. I'd picked it up in a store in Birmingham, but eventually, it all went a bit manky and I'd to throw it away.

me too! that is COOL!
seriously, aj, i'm betting it really was someone who wanted to give you the gift of good luck. you're a nice guy, you deserve it.
RC, there are still sellers like that out there, and i was like that. when i sold a utopia cd, i'd include an issue of the utopia times, stuff like that.  or send popcorn with movies, just little things that get you repeat buyers.
