I was trying to think of a bad movie by Kubrick- but I can't. I even liked BARRY LYDON and EYES WIDE SHUT.

I haven't seen it, but what about Lolita? It's beloved by critics but I've heard it was subjected to heavy censorship and Kubrick was unhappy with the finished product.

I enjoyed it very much. Maybe he wasn't happy with it, but I was. It likely HAD to be censored, because of the subject matter, and this was only 1962!
But he was an artist. I wouldn't like it if someone f**ked with my s**t, either.

No. I never cared for Drew Barrymore.

Well,  it has some similarities to lolita in some ways.

BTW yeah I always thought she was an example of a totally out of control Hollywood kid. I'm amazed she didn't end up totally fubared, OD'd,  dead in a DUI or in jail.

I don't know, man. Sorry, but saying LOLITA and POISON IVY are similar is kind of like saying CRIME AND PUNISHMENT and FRIDAY THE 13TH are similar, because they're both about murderers.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Yeh. I agree 100%. LOITA is a classic.
I always thought Peter Sellers was perfect for his role. He was creepy.

You know, I should add that one to my "guilty pleasures" list. I don't know why but I immensely enjoy that movie every time I rewatch it. I can't stand the sequels tho, which ironically a lot of people say they're great.

The closest thing to a bad movie Kubrick made was Fear and Desire. Even then, I don't think it's fair to call it a bad movie. Is it as good as his other films, not even close. It's not even a professional film by him. It was made in 1953, when he was still making a living  directing movie shorts and documentaries primarily.

Has a clean print of this ever been released? The only version I've seen had distractingly bad video quality.

Very cool! I'd definitely watch it if I got it as a gift, but I wouldn't pay $22.99 for it.

That reminds me of another of Tim Burton's films "Mars Attack." Despite all the acting talent in it, that is his one film I find unwatchable.
