I was just watching Scum of the Earth and it made me reflect how this decade has been a tough one for us fans of old B movies (aren't they all?). HGL was a big loss in 2016.

So who are some older directors still kicking and hopefully in good health?

Is Peter Sasdy still around? He directed some good stuff for Hammer and I can't find a death date anywhere for him. So as far as I know he's still alive.

What about any of the other old Hammer directors? Anyone else still kicking?

Very cool! I just looked him up and it looks like he also did a horror movie adaptation of the American Gothic painting lol. I'd love to check that one out

Peter Sasdy?

While he has not directed anything since the '90's, at 84, he is apparently still alive and kicking.

I watched an interview with John "Bud" Cardos that was included as an extra on his film The Dark. He claims to have started in movies in 1934 working as an extra and even name dropped The Little Rascals. He has 11 IMDB credits for directing with the last being in 1992. He is still kicking!

Bud Cardos was 5 years old in 1934. And I reckon, from what I have learned (because I'm a big Al Adamson fan) that it's true. Bud's dad and Al's dad Victor Adamson made movies together going back to silent westerns. Both Bud and Al grew up around movie making on the cheap. Because cheap westerns and serials are where they learned to make films. With no money. That's what they're Dads did! I love old westerns. I like Al Adamson movies! And Bud Cardos!

Bud starred in SATAN'S SADISTS (1969), directed by Al!

I'm not sure if I'd ever seen any interviews with him before yesterday. He comes off as very charismatic. I guess he had a reputation for getting things done too. The Dark was originally supposed to be directed by Tobe Hooper, but after 3 days of filming the producers said he was way behind schedule and replaced him with Bud. Bud mentioned that this wasn't the only time this happened and that he didn't necessarily like doing this as he was slotted in with very little prep time and had to use locations he wouldn't have chosen.
