I just re-watched this the other day.
It didn't recall it being so...bloody!
Sure, it's stupid, has got some bad Sha-Na-Na type music, and a stupid plot, and of course the hot dog mouth monsters with the Groucho walk..BUT!
The photography is very eerie in spots, and it's quite bloody!

The trailer makes the BORING movie look much better than it is.

I'll never understand what they were going for with the hotdog mouths of those creatures.

When Warren did their comic adaption, they went in and "fixed" the mouths to make them less ridiculous.

I'm also curious about this.
Why did they have a completely separate monster design that only got briefly used in, I think two scenes?

I was curious about the 2 different monsters as well..

For that first one, I think it might have been some sort of baleen or filter feeding system.

Possibly, Cthulhu-like face tentacles

As for the second one, given the monsters' origins, my guess is that they look different because different sea creatures bonded to the bones and thus gave different appearances.
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

I beg to differ!
This movie is a lot of things, boring it ain't! it's got lotsa blood and monsters and girls in bikinis!
I have no problem with it! And it ain't slow! A girl gets killed real quick! And bloody too!
And the hot dog mouthed monsters with rolling ping pong eyes are kinda cool too!

I've seen this and was really whelmed by it. I loved the gore aspect but the creatures not so much, and I'm not just talking about the hotdog teeth. Personally I think what doesn't work for me is the head design, something about it that just doesn't click.
yeah no.
