Licorice Taint

Not gonna lie, I named it that to get more attention and raise several questions.

Mom bought a massive amount of candy and dumped it into a cauldron for the ankle-biters.
This included licorice. Some people hate licorice. I am neutral towards it. I do not seek it out,
nor do I reject it if given to me. It's a very 5/10 candy.

However, the massive amount of licorice causes the entire cauldron to smell like cough syrup.
I pulled out a Kit-Kat and ate it. It tasted like licorice. "Oh s**t." I thought.
I immediately took out a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup (My favorite candy, 10/10).
I ate it. It tasted like licorice.

I don't eat a lot of candy at all. If I do, It's Juju Fruits. I eat the black ones. I like them.

Mom brought home black licorice ice cream and made me take a bite.
At first it tasted kinda good. Then it kicked me in the tongue and I gagged.
Nasty.

Oh, yeah. Along with Pepsin and Clove, it was my favorite, as well. Sometimes you can still find it. The 1st flavored gum to be sold in the U.S., and the 1st gum to come in sticks.

I remember Clove, but not Pepsin. I remember Beemans!  

I haven't seen it since they closed the old drug store.   They also sold Boston Baked Beans (candy) and candy cigarettes- which I can't seem to find no mo' either.  
No trading cards either! Ya know- with the hard as floor tile gum!

Licorice is one flavor whatever they call that "red" stuff it's not licorice.  When i was young I didn't like that flavor, but now... I can relish it.  I hated "hot" when i was a kid too.  Now I'm the type to try the scotch bonnet.  Taste matures.  But I still hate whiskey!
