JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS (1963)

It's on TCM right now and I'm sort of looking at it and I caught that cool part where Poseidon rises up out of the sea to assist the Argo passing the Crashing Rocks.  They pass... and then they find Medea.  Her ass is wet, but her makeup is perfect!  Man, I gotta sweet tooth for monsters, legends, and perfect makeup!

I love this film and Talos is just great!

Shouldn't this be in Good Movies?

No.  Rescued from the sea, Medea's makeup's too good.     I own this film and other HARRYHAUSEN on VHS.  It's good.  And bad.

the skeletons fighting scene must be one of the most memorable examples of special fx in movie history.

This is one I like to watch on a regular basis.

Along with the 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD, my favorite Harryhausen movie.

^ 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD (1958) is the classic HARRYHAUSEN Fantasy film.  Love it, and I also love MYSTERIOUS ISLAND (1961).
I own the soundtrack to MYSTERIOUS ISLAND as well as the VHS tape.  It's a wonderful score by BERNARD HERRMANN

Call me crazy, but another favorite is ONE MILLION YEARS BC. I know it's silly s**t...but those dinosaurs! And the cave women are beautiful!

Saw this before hang out with some friends.  During one of our games, I attacked one of my friends (not literally, just what the game mechanics called it)  I quoted the film

"KILL KILL KILL THEM ALL!"

I forget where, but I've heard the designs on the skeletons shields represent previous Harryhausen movie monsters.  There's  a kraken on one-It came from Beneath the Sea, but I'm not sure which of the other ones are which.
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

I loved the movie but the ending was a total letdown. It actually felt like if it wasn't finished and they just said "ok, pack everything, we ran out of money".
The Hallmark version from 2000, while amazingly cheesy and inaccurate, at least had the decency of finishing the story.  :bouncegiggle:

Still, the original JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS is pure fun, and the effects are marvelous.

^ To be fair, I mostly don't care about the stories, I just watch them for the monsters!

I looked close, and the Ymir from 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH is on one, as is the Hydra from Jason, and a future Harryhausen monster- a medusa skull!
