What an awful day . . .

My daughter is getting married tomorrow, and all week long has been frantic preparation, cleaning house, getting all of our stuff ready, clothes picked out.  We are Baptists, Becca is marrying a Catholic.  that's OK, we were fully prepared for them to be married in the Catholic church with our pastor, Brother James, just doing some scripture reading.
Then today, less than 24 hours out from the service, the priest informed us that they couldn't be married in the Catholic church because some paperwork from the archdiocese in charge of military affairs had not arrived.  All the invitations were printed, RSVP's had arrived, and now we had to scramble to find another venue for the wedding at the last minute.  Well, within an hour, we had it done.  Brother James had agreed to do the whole ceremony, and the rehearsal was moved to the new location on about 3 hours' notice, everything was set up.
Then came the kerfuffle over the reception.  We had printed on the invites that the reception would be immediately following the ceremony, but the groom's family who is catering said that they couldn't serve dinner till 4 PM, so they were not planning on opening the reception hall until then. What the hell were our out of town guests supposed to do for the four hours between the 11 AM service and the 4 PM reception?  I asked them to come to the rehearsal dinner at our house so we could iron it all out over some brisket, but they left after the rehearsal and only the groom stayed.  Later on, my wife got on the phone with his family to try and straighten it out, and it turned into a yelling match at 10 PM.
So we're having a wedding tomorrow, at least.  At some point there may be a reception and a dinner.  I don't  know if we are going to be on speaking terms with his family when it is all over or not, but I will be SO glad when it is all done!

I hope all is well on the day and may your daughters marriage be blessed with much happiness.

Yikes!  So sorry about all that!  Just remember, the goal at the end of the day is that your daughter and the groom end up husband and wife, the rest is just very expensive, stressful fluff.  If the out-of-towners, family and friends really care about them, they shouldn't be too put out by last minute changes. Just make sure all the crotchety old ladies have a comfortable place to sit and complain.

Good luck tomorrow! Best wishes to the bride and groom!

Best wishes for your daughter's marriage.

It sounds like a royal screw-up but that's how memories are made.

May today's worries become tomorrow's joys, and may all your tears water the seeds of future laughter.

Congratulations, dear friend, and best wishes to the new couple!

Yesterday was fine, everything went as well as it could!
Beautiful wedding, great reception dinner (albeit late; apparently that's just the universal tradition in PR culture), and after a night away somewhere, the happy couple are back here for a night or two before heading out to El Paso on Wednesday.
