Cyborg (1989)

mercenary vs marauders in a plague-infested urban dump of the future!
A woeful mess of a movie with low production values, a weak script, dubious acting, and questionable direction, yet it still somehow manages to be entertaining.

You just summarized Van Damme's career.

ouch! Imo JCVD is awesome  :twirl:

CREATION OF THE HUMANOIDS (1962)

A talky, no-action sci-fi film, and one of Andy Warhol's favorite.
Well, there's no accounting for taste.

But it does feature Dudly Manlove as a robot!

BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES (1970)

Though the classic original is good and has a bleak ending, the destruction of Earth is as bleak as it gets.  I watched BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES tonight.  It sucks.  I loved it as a kid.  What a DUMB movie!

^ I always thought BTPOTA was kinda-well,not kinda- REALLY far fetched in terms of time travel- but I enjoy it anyway for the scary mutants. I like all the POTA's movies from the 70's. I even liked the TV show and bought the comic books!

Soldier (1998)
Military dictatorship future. Presumably the government oppresses everyone. Soldiers are brainwashed to the point of being almost robots. The only "freedom" is falling through the cracks to live in abandoned places that the government ignores.

Soldier was a bleak but ultimately hopeful film. I really enjoyed that one. Wasn't there a fan theory that Soldier and Blade Runner were set in the same universe?

Gabriel Knight

I guess TEENAGE CAVE MAN counts as a bleak future film.

Soylent Green is pretty bleak but I watch it for that delicious steak + salad dinner prepared by saul.
