I have been watching everything Carl Sagan lately

My favorite is the cosmos tv series.

^ I worked with an old guy named Denver Johnson. He had no teeth. Drank more whiskey then I ever dreamed about. Big old man! We usta go fishing all the time with his brother- who was an even bigger drunk the either of us.
Anyway- Denver had a pet possum. He kept it in his station wagon. It used to crawl all over the place. I hated that critter. I wanted to kill it.

Call me weird, but I prize this. It's in a frame. I took it out so I could scan it.

I can't imagine having a possum as a pet. they are nasty, basically just big huge rats

In 1981, I rented a tiny house in back of my landlord Charlie Cramer. He had chickens and ducks. A possum was killing them at night. One night I heard his beagle howling, so I grabbed the 12 gauge single shot and went outside. Right under the yard light there was a fat, ugly possum walking behind a goose, so I shot him. He hissed right before his guts spilled out.

It's just a TV show.
You take pop culture and find a way to fit it into your mind set.
