"The Swimmer" soundtrack by Marvin Hamlisch. Hamlisch composed this while he was still in college!...

I didn't realize that... I actually like that "motionless" THE SWIMMER which is another dream-like state movie... the music is always a major part of why I look at "boring" movies like THE SWIMMER.  Only BURT could pull that one off.

That movie haunted me for quite a while after I saw it on TV in the late 80s: I actually thought it was a dream I had.

It's a fantastic, unique movie and everyone should give it a look. This one is also unique but not nearly as good:

But it's an interesting soundtrack with Bob Dylan, Cowboy Junkies, Leonard Cohen alongside some harder rock. Oliver Stone spent a fortune acquiring music rights.

NATURAL BORN KILLERS does have a terrific soundtrack.  That film is tough to take, but I think the RODNEY DANGERFIELD sequence is stunning.  That film is also quite "dream-like" but it is NOT motionless.

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA  - A record nobody talks about, but if the counterculture had a soundtrack, this would be it : NO ELECTRIC GUITAR !!!  Protest songs, humorous, critical and ironic, disturbing.   Unexpectedly musical and touching.
