Anyone else tried it?

I had a coupon for some of this so I tried it:

If I didn't know it wasn't beef I would have been fooled. The texture is very close. On the other hand, I would have thought it was bad beef jerky: the flavor wasn't especially good.

I would try a plant-based burger at some point, I guess, but I'm not going to make a point of seeking it out. This was enough to satisfy my curiosity. Yes, they really can make plants taste like meat. I'll still stick with the real thing for the time being.

This new stuff is nothing like that. Not saying you'd like it, but it really tastes like meat.

Why eat something that tastes like meat instead of meat? I can have spinach or collards on the side.

My dad usually has Beyond Beef for meatless burgers. I've had half of one and they're okay. Not the worst fake meat food I've had (that would be fake hot dogs that taste like regret and misery)
yeah no.

You know the answer to your own question.

I think they always fail at trying to make it taste like meat. I've had a black bean burger with added liquid smoke and they said it tastes like a real burger. It tasted like beans and spices to me, which isn't really a bad thing.

They do far worse at creating vegan cheese. Apparently even most vegans dislike vegan cheese. I've had some and they taste weirdly off.

Seriously, this new "ultimate" stuff is not like black bean burgers. That doesn't mean you'll like it---I didn't, really---I was just impressed how close they could come. (I've had a black bean burger and enjoyed it, but they weren't pretending it tasted like an actual burger.)

No idea about the vegan cheese---definitely not interested there. "American cheese" is bad enough.

It's also supposed to be more efficient & environmentally friendly. Cattle take a lot of space to raise, & they produce methane, which is a greenhouse gas.

I'm still not interested in trying fake meat.

I've had the Impossible Whoppers at Burger King.  Their real close to tasting like a regular burger, but still different enough that you can tell its not.  Something with the texture.  Like its a bit chewier than a whopper.

At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

Chicken hot dogs. Or turkey burger. Yes they are still meat. Tell me a turkey burger tastes better than a hamburger.
Even if you throw onions and mustard on that sh!t don't make it taste like a burger on the grill.
Street hot dogs in NYC are better than turkey hot dogs.
I don't know now- but the last time I was there in 2010 they were still the bomb.
Crispy. Saurkraut and onions and mustard.
