Hi All,

I have been trying for years to identify a horror movie I watched on TV sometime in the 90's, probably around 1994 time....

From the best of my memory, which may not be what it was, the synopsis is as follows:

The movie opens with some young courting couples, semi-nude on an island somewhere, and they are all killed off by something we do not see.

Then for some reason, a kind of expedition of around 4 to 8 people visit the island, for which the get some possible fisherman and his boat to transport them, and as you have guessed, they live in this old creepy house, and one by one they get murdered by some kind of monster we don't ever really get to fully see.

In the end, it turns out the killer is some deformed man who used to live at the house with his parents many years ago, and lives in some kind of crypt under the house, I think he was called Joshua...?

If anyone can help me identify this movie, I would be eternally grateful.

If it helps at all, I think the movie was aired on the BBC in the UK, either BBC1 or 2, around the date mentioned above and of course late at night / early hours of the morning.

Many thanks in advance.

:)

My first thought was Antropophagus, but I don't think that has the crypt under the house and the name of the bad guy I think is Klaus. Anyone else got anything that is a closer match?

^ Wasn't that on the " video nasties" list in the late 80's-early 90's?

That's right, Klaus played by George Eastman.

Yes it was. I've never seen it but the description on Wikipedia grosses me out a little.

Thanks for the help so far everyone, however having looked into the movie suggestion it isn't the movie I am looking for.

It's so frustrating knowing it exists but not being able to find it....

Possibly HUMONGOUS.
Can you tell if it's American, British, or otherwise?
"O the legend they say, on a Valentine's Day, is a curse that'll live on and on.."

Hi retrorussell,

It's not HUMONGOUS, I have checked that out before, although it has similar vibes.

In terms of US or UK, I really would be guessing, I was only 15 when I saw it and it was so many years ago.  I think the accents were American, but please don't hold me to that, sorry I can't be more clear on this.

The fetus scene is a bit much.

Some parts of your description generally resemble "The Slayer" (1982)  Can we rule that one out?
"May I offer you a Peek Frean?" - Walter Bishop
"Thank you for appreciating my descent into deviant behavior, Mr. Reese." - Harold Finch

Hi Newt,

Thank you for the help, I have had a look and unfortunately this is not the movie I am looking for.

I really do appreciate everyone's help on this, I know at some point someone is going to know or guess the movie.
