Andrew Garfield stars in this bizarre, trippy mystery/comedy/horror movie about the reality that underlies the day to day madness of modern Los Angeles.
Sam, a young man who drifts aimlessly through life while waiting to be evicted from his apartment, becomes infatuated with the beautiful blonde next door. But when she mysteriously disappears, he plunges through layers of secret codes, mysteries, and enigmas trying to find her again - encountering billionaires, famous but unknown songwriters, heiresses, and a mysterious figure called the Homeless King in his quest.  Nothing is as it seems in this strange, compelling, and fascinating film.  4.5/5

I loved this one (as anyone who knows me would guess).

I liked it as well. Do you think the protagonist was the dogkiller?

I don't think that ever occurred to me, but I did notice I thought the protagonist was much more of a douchebag than other people seemed to.

Well that is what set me thinking in the first place. Sam may be the protagonist, but that doesn't mean he is the good guy. Also, the dogkiller is one thread that is completely left hanging, and at one point Sam is accused of being the dogkiller, to which he only has a weak reply. So I wouldn't be surprised if he were the culprit.

Oh boy i really wanted to like this one but it was just so tonally all over the shop. I read somewhere that this is basically a commentary about hapless f$#kwits but I don't know if i needed to see 2:20mins of this for that point. I love a lot about what it is trying but it didn't land for me at all, most of which was why are women always throwing themselves at this almost hobo? Lots of scenes went nowhere and the more I think about it the more I hate it, mostly because the core story (solving clues, neo-noir style bizarre mystery) is right in my wheelhouse, but a masturbation solving clue scene is probably not my bag. I guess thats what irks me: nothing tends to matter (he beat a guy's head in and then we just go to another scene??) and the characters for the most part are all ass hats.

The naked Owl killer should have been the whole movie tbh.
