One time when I went to Italy I got an Italian sim card for my phone and actually did call home a couple times.  Once just to be nice to my parents.  Then my grandpa had to go to hospital so I called a couple more times to see how he was doing.  I'd always have to remember to time it so I wasn't waking mom or dad up at the ass crack of dawn or earlier to talk to me.  I knew anything after 3pm Italian time was pretty much good and they'd be wide awake then.

The last time I was on holiday in the US, my phone managed to dial one of my co-workers back in the UK. With an 8-hour time difference, he was woken up a 2 am and assumed it was an emergency at work. He got up, got his uniform ready and went straight in, only to find the building locked and in darkness. He swore he'd get revenge and do the same back, but forgot about the time difference and called me at lunchtime.  :bouncegiggle:
I'll show you ruin
I'll show you heartbreak
I'll show you lonely
A sorrow in darkness
