I ran into an old classmate of mine from high school at the fair tonight.
He was friendly and jovial and I enjoyed seeing him again, but in the back of my mind still lurks the memory of him putting a weiner (not HIS weiner, just a hot dog) in my malt when we worked together at Dairy Queen!

I woke up today at 4:22 and knew I wouldn't go back to sleep for the thirty-eight minutes I could have, so I put on a robe and went downstairs and went out back with my dog, since I sometimes see interesting things when I slip outside in the dark. There wasn't anything to tell of, no wildlife, no shooting stars, but I did get this creepy feeling that came over me. I was divided between not letting it get to me and facing it down, and wondering if I should listen to my instincts and go back inside. Since it was cold I did the latter, but I don't know what that was about, though it was such a strong sense of...not peril, but like...disturbance around me that even when I drove Daisy out an hour later I felt uneasy. Think I'll walk into the woods in a bit and see if there's any sign of I dunno, bigfoot or the frog man or something.

They make the garland for the Kentucky Derby at my local Kroger, which I hate because it's always scheduled for viewing during my normal shopping time. The place temporarily becomes a zoo with competition parking.

I hear the promising sound of thunder. I like most storms. Probably should have gone with my family to visit my in-laws today but fighting a cold and didn't want to risk passing it on over there. Still, I've built my life around my family, and when they're not home it feels like I am suddenly off center. Like nothing feels right. Maybe I'll be able to watch a good storm soon. Lawsy what an empty afternoon.

Off to drive my father in law to the hospital for more unpleasantness, poor man. May everyone else's day be better than his, and if you're blessed enough to have them, may I suggest you tell your loved ones how much it means having them in your life.

Stay well, friends, and enjoy the good that's yours at present. It won't always be there.
