Out of curiosity, does anyone here smoke? Cigarettes, not vaping. Tobacco, not other things.

No lecture coming or sound-off, just wondered, since it seems like hardly anyone I know still does, if ever they used to. I was noticing the other day that unlike when I was a kid, you hardly even see ads for stop smoking clinics anymore, and I guess it's because with changing cultural habits, there's not a big market left. I even drove through Kentucky not long ago and it used to be I'd see a lot of tobacco farms there, and I didn't notice as many, at least where I was (Kenton and Boone Counties).

Don't smoke here. Absolutely hate the habit. I grew up surrounded by heavy smokers. I find the smell of cigarette smoke disgusting and other peoples smoking has damaged my lungs.

Quit for vaping in the early 2010s. Although I will probably buy about a pack a year when I find myself unable to get e-cig stuff. Ironically, real cigs are much easier to come by.

Cigarettes (and nicotine in general) probably have the worst rick/reward ratio of any drug in existence. They eventually kill just about everyone who tries them, and offer essentially no benefit in return.

I smoked from 1984 to 2009: I quit when my Mom begged me to and I haven't had a smoke since.

I don't smoke and never have.  I've also noticed that there seem to be far fewer smokers these days and those that do smoke seem to be a little more secretive, or maybe even ashamed, about it than they were years ago.

My whole household family smoked when I was a kid.  I remember wanting to sit and watch TV with them or even just be with them because I didn't want to be alone and it was such a hassle to wave all the smoke out of my face to be able to tolerate being in the same room.  I was told a couple times if I didn't like it I should just go somewhere else, so I would just sit there and try to tough it out and breathe naturally and it was so hard.  I always hated gym and had so much trouble running laps and stuff because I'd get so out of breath and I thought I just must be lazy and out of shape and years later found out that was probably because of all the second-hand smoke I was exposed to.

I will say though, I have always been a little envious of the camaraderie smokers seem to have with one another.  I feel like those 10-15 minute smoke breaks at work or social events are great opportunities to meet others you have common ground with.  Like you go out for a smoke, meet someone else that smokes Newports and then find out you both listen to Dokken and before you know it one or the other is inviting you over to play Pictionary.  I've heard some people propose taking "fresh air breaks" as an alternative to smoke breaks, but that just doesn't seem the same.  Those people don't listen to Dokken.

Never smoked, though I come from a family of smokers (my father and brother). My wife does too.

I used to use smokeless tobacco (Skoal, etc.) for a long time, but I finally gave it up almost nine years ago.

My wife was supposed to quit smoking the same time I gave up "dip," but I was able to make it stick, and she wasn't. My kids have been trying to shame her into quitting for years :D

I took a puff once.  A guy was using it to light fireworks on the 4th.  Yuck; never again.  Had plenty of family that smoked and most wisely gave it up.

I've never been a cigarette smoker. I'll smoke cigars if someone offers me one, but that happens very infrequently. It's probably been 10 years since I smoked one. I was in a store in Belgium about 8 - 10 years ago that had some really great-looking pipes. I almost bought one but I decided I wouldn't smoke it enough to be worthwhile. I'll smoke a doobie if other people are, but I never have any of my own. It's not something I ever think about buying, but if I'm at a party or something I'll partake.

I don't smoke myself, but I used to grow tobacco when I was younger.  It was actually a big cash crop in my home town for the longest time.

Last year, I went back to my hometown for the first time in ages and the big tobacco fields, barns, and even the warehouses where they used to store the stuff before auction where gone.  I only saw one crop of tobacco outside of town and the field it was in wasn't even that big.
