I wanted the help but all three specialists I went to said that they couldn't help me as they found it hard to get through to me 😳

Did you refuse to open up? Never been to a psychiatrist but if I ever did I would tell everything so they could help me to get better. Isn't that the whole point of going there?
Is it October yet?

I told them that I wanted help and was 100 % open with them but they said that they couldn't find a way to get through to me and assist me, so I left it there and haven't been in therapy since.

How do you want to be remembered?
What does not kill me makes me stranger.

As a good Christian, a loving father and husband, a loyal friend, and a teacher who loved his students.

I would like to be forgotten. That's why I don't even want a tombstone. As one of my favorite poems says it so well:

Earth, that nourished thee, shall claim
Thy growth, to be resolved to earth again,
And, lost each human trace, surrendering up
Thine individual being, shalt thou go
To mix for ever with the elements,
To be a brother to the insensible rock
And to the sluggish clod, which the rude swain
Turns with his share, and treads upon. The oak
Shall send his roots abroad, and pierce thy mould.
Yet not to thine eternal resting-place
Shalt thou retire alone, nor couldst thou wish
Couch more magnificent. Thou shalt lie down
With patriarchs of the infant world—with kings,
The powerful of the earth—the wise, the good,
Fair forms, and hoary seers of ages past,
All in one mighty sepulchre.   The hills
Rock-ribbed and ancient as the sun,—the vales
Stretching in pensive quietness between;
The venerable woods—rivers that move
In majesty, and the complaining brooks
That make the meadows green; and, poured round all,
Old Ocean's gray and melancholy waste,—
Are but the solemn decorations all
Of the great tomb of man.
What does not kill me makes me stranger.

As long as any of us who know you survive, my friend, you will NEVER be forgotten!

Alex

I like hot food, although it gives Kristi asthma attacks, so I very rarely get to eat it these days. I suspect I've lost my tolerance for it.

What is the longest time in your life you've spend afraid?

What does not kill me makes me stranger.

indianasmith

That's a good question; I'm not a  fearful person - not on my own account, anyway.
The longest I was afraid for myself was probably the three days it took USS Lockwood to ride out a huge Pacific typhoon.  No joke; those waves were 30-40 feet tall and were breaking over the bow of the ship.  I was seasick, scared, and homesick all at once.

As far as being fearful for others - once I didn't hear from my best friend, with whom I write back and forth several times a day, for over a week.  I was scared something awful had happened.

A second or two. I don't get scared- I get angry.

Dig it.  What we have in common I've pointed out: lucky... to be alive.

Oh yeah, pickled hot peppers on pizza, sub sandwich, chili, love 'em!

Then you're all  lucky. I've been afraid many times and sometimes for a long time. Always with reason though, and I always kept going.
