didn't Carpenter say it was hard as hell to even get studios interested him now?  Joe Dante has said that which is why you never see him on the big screen anymore. isn't he retired from directing anyways?   i hope he does more films and i'd watch it if he did do a sequel but do we need it? prolly not if he had the right script, practical effects and shot it like it would be shot back in the day and no jump scares or shakey cam maybe.

but i'd love him to go back to directing again
