remember the negative reviews of this when it came out..  29 years later, time to check it out  TeddyR

I'm disappointed with this film because it started out in 'good' way (good meaning craptastic that is)... the acting was nearly laugh-out-loud tv advert level, and the direction reminded me of Dario Argento after he stopped caring.  and some of the dialog was hilarious ("italian men are ass-pinchers, my bum is now blue!"... "pearl jam, is that some kind of indian sex act?")

sadly it turned boring. I don't know why so many films do this, they just get immersed in boring stuff that drags on forever. no amount of running around or suspenseful music can disguise the fact nothing's happening.

Sharon Stone as ever (for me anyway) manages to be 'hot', without being remotely sexy... can't really explain that.

so this could've been a campy fun-fest but it turned into a wet fish. 5/10 hot

It's one of those movies, like Pelican Brief, that I can't remember if I saw it then I watch and think "yeah I have seen it"

yeah I can see it would have that kind of feel to it... it's pretty generic in a lot of ways

btw I think Stone is great in CASINO... nails the role

I really can't recall Sharon Stone in anything but CASINO!
She was great in it, for sure!  Thumbup

for all its notoriety, I honestly can't remember if I've seen BASIC INSTINCT or not?

she turned up in an episode of TJ HOOKER I watched the other day... was quite a big part in the episode

I was just rereading her IMDB credits, & I've only seen a few of her movies, & I really only remember The Quick And The Dead

How did it happen that no one can recall many of her films, yet she's a movie star?  Question
I checked out her credits, too. CASINO is the only thing I ever seen her appear in.

EDIT: I seen her in TOTAL RECALL (1990)- I guess?  Question

I've seen her in a few movies (offhand Total Recall, Basic Instinct and Assassins? (one with Stallone, not 100% sure of the name),, but I can't remember anything else she did being as big as Basic Instinct. The last thing I watched her in was Catwoman.

Only 2 two things have made me want to see Sliver:

1. The Simpsons:

2. The UB40 video.

I started a thread once like 20 years ago about "rooms full of tv's in movies" and I think Sliver came up

so yes, massive culturally impact!
