HALLOWEEN ENDS  Apparently not.

Last year I saw quite a bit of HALLOWEEN KILLS (2021) and at the time added to a thread about worst or such and am not a fan.
JAMIE LEE CURTIS is back (and Kyle Richards).   Lookingup

The twist in the first one really put me off this series. From what I heard they've more turned him into a Jason-type character which to me suggests they didn't really understand the franchise. Maybe someday far down the line, I'll watch the others but so far I just have no desire to.

Me arriving for work.

They don’t need all these HALLOWEEN sequels now. Should’ve ended at part 4 at a push imo

I wish they kept the idea from HALLOWEEN III and just made an anthology series; I love that movie, it has that 80's tone that can't be matched. HALLOWEEN II was the end of both Dr Loomis and Michael Myers, just leave them at that. It's hilarious how in HALLOWEEN IV the good doctor shows up with nothing but a small scar on his face after a massive explosion, with no explanation at how he survived.

I watched them up until HALLOWEEN RESURRECTION and just had enough, that movie was simply a disaster. I never bothered with the remakes or any of these reboots, it's just embarrassing.

The factor we have a Halloween timeline on the level something like the MCU is....sad.

While I liked Halloween (2018).......Halloween Kills had me eye rolling the entire time backpedaling right back to the issues with the other films in the series. I'm debating to bother with Halloween Kills. I really wish the franchise went the way of Halloween III: SOTW.

From the original series, I'd only watched the first three and then Halloween H2O. I liked the first Rob Zombie film. Given he didn't want to make the second I wasn't surprised that it ended up so uneven. I watched the first of the newer ones and thought it was ok but nothing special right up until the big plot twist. It took me right out of the movie and ruined it for me. I am just not tempted by even the slightest bit of curiosity to see the following two.

I guess that makes it clearer... that map above is confusing!  I think the original 1978 movie is a far from perfect classic.  The 2nd one was an okay followup.  Nobody liked the third THEN but it's certainly better thought of and one day I may look at it again... fast forward...the Rob Zombie film was way more interesting than it should have been.  Fast forward again 'cause I don't care...
As stated I saw KILLS last year.   Lookingup  It's sh!t.

I've been saying for years that to be a fan of the Halloween franchise, you have to be willing to be disappointed on a regular basis. Every time a new one comes out, the fan base is like "Woooo yeah! The trailer looks great! They finally got it right! This movie is gonna kick ass!" ... then they see the actual film, and it's "Mehh, that sucked. Oh well, they'll fix it in the next one."

That said...

I thought 2018's Halloween was entertaining enough, though it was a totally unnecessary exercise.

However, I didn't like Halloween Kills much at all. The carnage was fun but there were too many annoying secondary characters running around with their own side plots that went nowhere.

I see that Halloween Ends will be streaming on Peacock the same day it releases in theaters, so even though I should know better by this point, I'm sure I'll watch it there next month.

I watched it on Peacock this morning.

It was... not good.

Overlong, talky pretentious, and not nearly "Halloween-y" enough. It felt like they took a script for a different movie and re-wrote it to pass it off as a Halloween sequel.

By the 40 minutes mark, I was having flashbacks to when I saw Halloween 5 years ago, and was sitting in the theater like "What the f***? They ruined it."

If you must see it, stream it on Peacock. It's not worth the time or $$ to go see it in the theater.

If you want a good Halloween movie watch ''Batman the long Halloween ''. Yes, it's animated. Watch it anyway .

The Halloween series is shaky, dodgy and not great overall.

Both major characters have died but yet 50 years later, it's still getting sequels.

I actually though this was an improvement over "Halloween Kills". It has the same issues (trying to turn Michael Myers into a metaphor of God-knows-what, not enough Michael in action) and I'm aware of it, but at least it tries to build up a decent ending from the series.

Naturally, this doesn't mean there won't be more "Halloween" films. The producers have already stated they will keep making more, but I assume they will just ignore these last three films.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

After watching the first one, I think ignoring them is a good plan. I might even extend it to future ones they make.
