This is something I've been meaning to do for a while, but I always forget about it until the year is well under way.

Not this year.

This year, we start THE BAD MOVIE CALENDAR.
Every day, post a movie that goes with that day and why it fits that day.

Some days will naturally be a lot easier than others.  You might have to look up what obscure holidays happened on that day or what happened in world history to find something. Hopefully we can keep this going until the end of the year.

Because to day is the first day of the new year, we start with ...

Bloody New Year!

Rev. Powell

I have something similar mapped out for weird movies, there may be some overlap.

I'll let you lead but I may have some suggestions if you get stuck.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Apparently January 1st is Public Domain Day. To celebrate the occasion I'll give you

which apparently is a public domain title
Is it October yet?

By all means, post 'em when we reach the right days.

Asimov celebrates his birthday this day.

Good choice. Today is also the date the Russian play R.U.R. debuted--the play that coined the term "robot." That's why today I'm streaming "Metropolis" on 366 Weird Movies' discord channel at 8 PM (Eastern time). Anyone's free to stop in and watch along. https://discord.com/channels/1011013743796289556/1011013744387694704

You will find that Karel Capek was, in fact, Czech. (I liked his War With The Newts)
"Once you get past a certain threshold, everyone's problems are the same: fortifying your island and hiding the heat signature from your fusion reactor."

Yes, my mistake. (Thanks for the fact-Czech).

If it is any consolation, the basic word is the same in Russian.
"Once you get past a certain threshold, everyone's problems are the same: fortifying your island and hiding the heat signature from your fusion reactor."

Gabriel Knight

Well, a day like today Tolkien was born, so I was about to suggest LORD OF THE RINGS. But since this is a bad movie recommendation thread, let's go with something more bizarre.

January the 3rd is also Greta Thunberg's birthday, you know, that girl who talks about climate change a lot. Let's choose the most scientifically accurate disaster movie ever. Yes, that was a joke:

I refuse to accept Blind Fury as a bad movie daily calendar recommendation. I mean, c'mon now ...

QuoteRoger Ebert and Gene Siskel gave the film "Two thumbs up"

it is regarded as one of Rutger Hauer's top 5 best movies
