Yes, many times but with me it's unfortunately a one way street because the people I genuinely fall in love with don't feel the same about me ☹️

I feel ya, man. Been there, it sucks. I've also had women in love with me (or at least infatuated) whom I didn't feel quite that way about (which also sucks, though not nearly as painfully). In fact, only once in my life has it been truly mutual affection shared equally on both sides (for a while).

Ever noticed that loving someone is better than being in love, because being in love can be like madness?

Question

And to the original question, as defined by the inquirer, more than 20 times.

I get what you are saying!  Being "in love" is an emotional, endorphin-driven high that makes you do crazy, silly, and sometimes dangerous things.

Loving someone means putting them ahead of you, seeing them at their very worst and still cherishing and valuing them as a person, and even being willing to lay down your life for them.

Being in love is a fleeting high; loving someone is a lifelong choice.

Twenty times and you've never felt the madness?

I've dated a few people, but never quite been in love with them. I don't date anymore. It is what it is.

I think in my life I've felt every kind of love, eros, agape, storge, philia.

I know what it is to be madly in love, to lose good judgment, to feel the monofocus that takes everything over, and it's as taxing a condition as it is one that makes you happily high. I only felt it once but it was long-lasting, and I'm not sure it has ever entirely left me, crazy as it is to admit. It's like that kind of love etches into your soul without your permission or your ability to do anything about it.

Other times I came to love were much calmer than that, like a long build-up, like pleasant warmth instead of burning heat. Soooo, by that reasoning, I was never in love with my husband. I loved him, love him now, love him very deeply, trust him, know him, he and I definitely get one another and make a good team in the face of life, but for good or ill I lacked feeling the madness with him. It was more gradual, in other words. And it didn't take the toll on me the first time did.

(Now, to be honest, he claims he fell for me the first time we met, which seems true considering how long I dragged him along and all he put up with in our earliest times.)

I felt a huge affection for someone years ago that probably was love, but in a different way. I think more than anyone else....I "liked" him, which is very important itself. He even asked me to marry him, and I said no. He was the kindest, sweetest boy, I'll tell you. It makes me happy that he went on to be so happily married and loves his son so much, because he deserved that kind of life.

Annnnnieway.

Sometimes, the one you love topples from the pedestal; yet you love still.

Please clarify: are we talking about long walks on the beach love or tie me up and spank me love?
