What is something you care deeply about?

While there are more important things in life and things which matter more to me, I'm big on free expression.

Have you ever had someone close to you die young (say, under 30)?

I was thinking I've been lucky in that regard. Everyone in my family has lived into at least their 60s. I've had one friend die in his 40s and another in his 50s, but none really young.

My cousin Ricky Merchant hung himself at the age of 16 in a juvi jail in 1978. He lived here in Lawton, too.
Him and my brother Mike stole a car. Ricky went to jail. Mike went to NY.

My first fiance in 2000. He was a month from turning twenty-six. I was overwhelmed by sadness such as I never imagined could exist.

Besides my family and doggo I really care about  LGBTQ+ rights.

Luckily I haven't had that happen to me

Yes. An ex boyfriend that I was still friends with and a cousin who passed from complications after childbirth.  Both were very gut-wrenching in different ways.

I've lost a lot of older family too and realized somewhat recently how important their stories and perspectives are from the times they were around and I wasn't.

What I find really odd are the people who have made it to my age without losing anyone close to them.  There are quite a few people I work with that told me that.

When's the last time you did something outside your comfort zone?

Today I showed interest in the basketball tournament, even though I have a deep resistance for going along with things that are currently popular*. I guess that counts, doesn't it?

*The other day I pretended I didn't know who Taylor Swift was for much the same reason, but also to see what this girl would say about that.
