Okay, so I was just browsing the CAPE FEAR (1962) page on imdb, and was really surprised to see that out of its 202 user reviews, none of them are 1-star reviews...

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0055824/reviews?dir=desc&ratingFilter=1

This is really unusual. when any movie amasses more than about 100 user reviews, there is always at least one person who will declare said movie to be a complete piece of trash and give it 1 star... for comparison the 1991 CAPE FEAR remake has 439 user reviews, of which 28 are 1-star reviews.

So that gave me an idea for a game....

Can anyone find another movie with over 200 user reviews, but ZERO 1-star reviews?

I couldn't find any. Even classic films like the MALTESE FALCON, A STEETCAR NAMED DESIRE, and PSYCHO had some idiot say how bad they thought it was.
Supernatural?...perhaps. Baloney?...Perhaps not!" Bela Lugosi-the BLACK CAT (1934)

Lugosi-"No. Dracula-never ends."

yeah, any film with over 100 reviews is almost guaranteed to have at least one person claiming that film is literally the worst film ever made, lol

>>> special prize for the first person to find a film that fits the challenge!! (*)

(*) no idea what that prize is or how I will even award it... in fact there may be no prize. judge's decision is final

I'm not sure I'd know how to go about researching that, but if I stumble upon any examples I'll let you know.

I will mention that among people who rated it but didn't leave a review, 202 (or 0.6%) considered it a 1-star film.

no doubt, that's why I'm only including written user reviews, rather than standard ratings as well...

I liked both versions although the Scorsese version was a little too over the top for me in terms of violence.

The version I really liked was this one

THIS IS SPINAL TAP has a surprisingly low 424 user reviews, but 9 of them are 1-star..

an excerpt from one of them:

QuoteA lot of the jokes don't even make sense. Why shouldn't they put an 11 on the scale? Either stress that they know that it doesn't increase the maximum volume or respect that more intermediate settings is useful to them as musicians.
